Despite the fact that many conservatives are demoralized over 2008 elections, RSL envisions a governing majority — a grassroots revolution that turns blue states red and makes red states redder.
Ronald Reagan accomplished this in 1980 and we can do it again. How will conservatives do that, you ask? If President Reagan were alive, he would tell you what he told conservatives at a 1975 CPAC conference in his now famous BOLD COLORS speech. He said:
“Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising the banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?”
Using the “bold colors” formula to rebuild a new conservative majority, we must:
1) Renew our principled positions on limited government and fiscal restraint;
2) Begin identifying, training and organizing a new generation of conservative street fighting, tech savvy state activists;
3) Strategically “pick” and win fights with governmental entities and liberal organizations across the country;
4) Elect candidates–both locally and nationally–who stand on principle not partisanship.
Our goal at RSL is to be an “ideas clearinghouse” as well as provide the resources necessary to energize and organize a new generation of political leaders across the country. This vision is grand, but — pardon the pun– we have to start eating the elephant one bite at a time.
